Monthly Office Insiders build for Windows brings custom data types for Excel and more

As is the case every month, Microsoft has released the monthly Office Insiders build for Windows users in the Current Channel (Preview), bringing a few new features to the suite of productivity apps. Today’s update bumps the version to 2011 and bears build number 13426.20184.

First up are the improvements and features making it to Excel. The firm is finally adding the ability for users to unhide multiple sheets, which the company calls a “popular request”. Another addition being made to Excel this month is the ability to create custom data types using the Power Query Editor, a feature that the Redmond firm announced last month. This lets users create their own data types and leverage features such as information cards to manage and analyze data within cells.

The last of the additions to Excel include the option for users to create Power Platform dataflows from queries in Excel. Users can export their existing queries into Power Query templates to then create “cloud-powered Power Platform dataflows”. The firm adds that this allows for automated data refreshes in the cloud, saving users time.

Next up are minor additions for Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Word and Outlook now offer a new “click-to-review” feature for grammar and styling suggestions that also includes a card-like UI for spelling and grammar suggestions. Outlook is also getting text predictions for sentences – just like on the web. Lastly, PowerPoint now lets users export a range of slides when exporting an animated GIF.
