    • Windows Vista startup sound is back in Windows 11 once again by Taras Buria Microsoft released Windows 11 build 27898 earlier this week, offering users some much-needed changes, such as small taskbar buttons, Quick Machine Recovery, and more improvements across the operating system. The build also has a fair share of known bugs, and one of them is quite hilarious. In addition to issues with File Explorer, Settings, and Remote Desktop, build 27898 brings back the old Windows Vista startup sound. Deja vu? Yes, this is not the first time Microsoft has shipped a Windows 11 preview update with a classic startup chime. A couple of weeks ago, the bug first appeared in a fresh pair of Dev and Beta builds, stirring some conspiracy theories among Windows Insiders about Microsoft restoring this bit of Windows Vista on the hype of the macOS 26 launch with its Liquid Glass redesign. Microsoft debunked those claims (it was just a funny bug after all), and later, the company attempted to fix the bug but failed. Only after that, a new preview update restored the modern Windows 11 startup tune from 2021. Now, with Canary Channel having a new build to try, the Windows Vista startup sound is back, raising questions among users about how that is even possible. To that, Brandon LeBlanc has the following to say in his X: Therefore, if you use Windows 11 Canary builds on your system, enjoy the classic chime while it is still there. Sadly or fortunately, depending on your stance on Windows Vista, that startup sound is not going to stay in Windows 11, and the next update, whenever it comes, will most likely fix it.
    • You know, Microsoft just cannot add all of those shiny features at once! They must have something for another "big" upgrade to announce as an incredibly great new feature! 😁 Btw. I bought StartAllBack right after I started using Windows 11 and I have all of these good old taskbar features from day 1 :-)
    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Final Fantasy for cheap, bundled Borderlands, and free strategy games by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. We are kicking things off with the freebies, and for a change, they are on Steam. The strategy games publisher Slitherine is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and that means three games have gone free to claim alongside all their sales. You can now grab the 4X strategy experience Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, the turn-based strategy title Fantasy General II, as well as the turn-based tactical game Field of Glory II: Medieval for the low, low price of free. The trio will be gone from the freebie list of Steam on July 17, so be sure to grab them before that. Hopping over to bundles, the Borderlands X Wonderlands bundle is carrying the popular looter shooter series from Gearbox, all split into three tiers For paying $8 you gain Borderlands 3, Borderlands 2, Borderlands 2 VR, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and Borderlands Game of the Year Enhanced. The $11 tier adds on two more games: Tales from the Borderlands and its sequel. The final tier of the bundle costs $16 and adds only Tiny Tina's Wonderland: Chaotic Great Edition. Next, the Humblecraft RTS Rush bundle is touting 11 games for those wanting tactical games in their library. The bundle carries Men of War: Assault Squad 2, AI War 2, From the Depths, Tooth and Tail, four games from the classic Commandos series, Stronghold Definitive Edition, and Dust Fleet. The Epic Games Store's own freebies landed earlier this week too. The double giveaway brought in Figment 2: Creed Valley and Sky Racket. Figment 2: Creed Valley continues the grand musical adventure set in the human mind that began in the original. Once again, you'll be taking the role of Dusty, the voice of courage, and his sidekick Piper. Next, Sky Racket lands as an indie shoot 'em up and Brick Breaker mashup, but the only way to strike back at enemies is by reflecting projectiles back at them using laser tennis rackets. The double giveaway is set to end on July 17. On the same day, the store will put up the hit Firaxis 4X experience Civilization VI Platinum Edition as the latest freebie. • That reminds me Windows 8.1, when users wanted proper Start menu and button after its removal from Windows 8. Microsoft promised to do something about it, but they just add visible Start button that brought you to Start Screen 😁
    • Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.2.1 by Razvan Serea Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a utility for completely removing AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL graphics drivers and related packages from your system, attempting to eliminate all leftovers (including registry entries, folders and files, driver store). Though AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL drivers can usually be removed via the Windows Control Panel, this uninstaller tool was created for situations where standard uninstall fails, or when you need to fully remove NVIDIA or ATI graphics card drivers. After using this driver cleaner, your system will behave as though it’s the first time you’re installing a new driver—similar to a fresh Windows installation. As with all such tools, we recommend creating a restore point beforehand, allowing you to undo changes if issues arise. If you're having trouble installing an older or newer driver, try it—there are reports that it resolves such problems. Recommended usage: The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best. Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe). It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues. You do NOT need to uninstall the driver prior using DDU. Requirements: .NET Framework 4.8 Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 (32-bit or 64-bit) Note: Using on Insider Preview builds is at your own risk. Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.2.1 changelog: New features: Added the button to only clean the shader/compute caches. Translation: Several translation updates. General: Various fixes and enhancements.
