Connecting a new router.

Hello everyone.

 

I bought a Asus AX router.  However, the modem that has been provided to me by my ISP has a built in router.  I am wanting to disable the router and just use it as a modem but I cannot find a setting in the modem application to disable routing.  I'm thinking I should just disable the wireless network and connect the new router, correct?

 

My modem/router is model  844GE-1 connected to a Fiber network.

Bridge your 844GR-1 via your ISP it seems and make the Asus do the routing in the network

Then plug the 844GR-1 into the WAN port on the Asus

But yeah, you need to put it in bridge mode so your modem/router only carries the signal, not manages it.

Didn't even have to use the term bridge... Just google 8554E-1 and first hit is the info you need..
