Amazon brings Alexa Routines to Fire TV devices

Amazon announced today that it is rolling out Alexa Routines to Fire TV devices. The feature allows you to perform custom actions on multiple smart devices simultaneously with a single command.

With Routines, you can now control your entertainment experience on any Fire TV device. For instance, you can create a routine that pauses what’s currently playing on your smart TV and turns on your smart lights when you say “Alexa, I’m getting a snack". In addition, you can set up a routine for resuming what you're watching and turning off the lights when you say “Alexa, I’m back".

Amazon has added several featured Fire TV Routines to the Alexa app that are ready to use. In addition, you can head over to the Routines section of the app to create your own routine.

This capability is available on all Fire TV devices such as smart TVs and Fire TV Cube. For Fire TV Stick users, a Consumer Electronics Control (CEC)-compatible smart TV is required to enable routines like turning on and off your TV.

These Routines are live for all Amazon customers worldwide from today. Of course, you can also share Routines you've created with friends and family members through shareable URL links, although this is available only to customers in the U.S.
