fury161
This may be a kinda stupid question, but can you use regular SDRAM in DDR slot? I am looking to get a new MSI board using the KT266a chipset and it says it supports DDR RAM, does not mention SDRAM but I am wondering if all DDR boards are "backwards compatible" with PC133 RAM or is the slot on the board actually different? I've got 640MB of PC133 and will go to DDR RAM soon, just wondering if I have to do it right now. Thanks.
dicchicora
DDR slots are for DDR Ram...plain and simple. If you have SDRAM and want to use it with a newer mobo...look for a mobo that has SDRAM slots and DDR slots. Of course, I'd say, buy the MSI board and DDR ram! But you can't use SDRAM in DDR ram slots and you can't use DDR ram and SDRAM together on the same board.
