Xiaomi was one of the companies mentioned at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit this year, being one of the first to use the latest Snapdragon chipset, the Snapdragon 888. Today, the Chinese company fully unveiled the phone that's using that chip, the Xiaomi Mi 11, and as you'd expect, it's a flagship smartphone in every sense of the word.
Aside from featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888, the phone comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM at 3200MHz and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The battery is 4,600mAh, and it supports 55W fast wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The phone also ships with Xiaomi's MIUI 12.5, which the company says will use up to a 17% decrease in power consumption for system operations, as well as 32% lower memory usage.
The display on the Mi 11 is also top-notch, with a 6.81-inch AMOLED panel coming in at Quad HD+ resolution (3200x1440). The phone offers one of the brightest displays in a phone, with a peak brightness of 1500 nits, while color accuracy rated at a 0.38 just noticeable color difference (JNCD). Of course, it sports a 120Hz refresh rate, and the touch sampling rate is 480Hz. For sound, Xiaomi is using Harman/Kardon stereo sound with Hi-Res Audio Certification.
The camera setup features three sensors, headlined by a 108MP main camera with OIS. It's a 1/1.33" sensor and 0.8μm pixel size, but with Super Pixel technology, that goes up to 1.6μm by combining four pixels into one. There's also a 13MP ultra-wide camera with a 123-degree field of view, and a 5MP "telemacro" camera. It can be used both as a telephoto lens and a macro camera, with autofocus support between 3cm and 10cm from the subject. The front-facing camera is 20MP, and it also supports Super Pixel.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 is available to pre-order in China today, and it should come to Western markets at some point, though we don't know when yet. In China, the phone starts at 3,999 yuan ($611.45) for the variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The 8GB+256GB variant costs 4,299 yuan ($657.32), and the 12GB+256GGB version goes up to 4,699 yuan ($718.48). Those prices are likely not representative of what other countries will get when the phones are available, however. Also, the phone's box comes without a charger, but you can buy a bundle that includes that charger at no additional cost.
