Amazon launches its own Smart TVs in India under the AmazonBasics umbrella

Amazon has introduced its own Smart TV lineup in India under the AmazonBasics umbrella. In case you don't know, AmazonBasics is Amazon's private brand that sells accessories, home appliances and electronics. The brand was established in 2009 and has grown exponentially since then.

Earlier today, the company quietly listed its new Smart TVs in India. Amazon is currently offering TVs in two sizes- 50-inch and 55-inch. Both the TVs will support Amazon's Fire streaming service that allows users to access apps like Amazon Prime, Netflix and others. AmazonBasics TVs will be powered by a 1.95GHz Quad-core processor and will support 4K at 60Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR 10, HLG and Alexa. The TVs will come with Fire OS 7 out of the box but will not have the new Fire OS UI that was introduced to Fire Sticks recently. Moving on to connectivity, both the TVs will have three HDMI 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0, one USB 2.0 and one IR port. For sound, Amazon has added a 20W speaker that will support Dolby Atmos.

With the launch of AmazonBasics TVs in India, Amazon is going head to head with established players like Xiaomi, OnePlus and TCL, all of whom are offering budget-friendly TVs in the country. If you are interested in picking up an Amazon TV then you can get it from Amazon India. The company has priced the 50-inch model at ₹29,999 (~$410) while the 55-inch model will set you back ₹34,999 (~$478). Both the models come with a one-year comprehensive warranty and an additional one-year warranty on the panel.
