Acer unveils new laptops with Intel H35 chips, AMD Ryzen 5000, and Nvidia RTX 30 graphics

Aspire 7

It's CES, which means that it's time for companies across the board to refresh their wares. As usual, that includes Intel, AMD, and Nvidia, and that also means that OEMs are refreshing their products to follow suit. With Acer, we're getting new Nitro 5, Predator Triton 300, and Predator Helios 300 gaming laptops, and the firm is also introducing new Aspire 5 and Aspire 7 PCs.

Nitro 5 15

For the Nitro 5, which comes in 15- and 17-inch flavors, it's being refreshed with Intel's new Tiger Lake-H35 processors. These are quad-core 35W chips built on the company's 10nm SuperFin technology. This comes with Nvidia GTX graphics, but if you want something more powerful, there's an AMD variant that comes with up to a Ryzen 9 5900HX processor and RTX 3080 graphics. The AMD version also has more display options than the 144Hz FHD panel on the Intel one. It comes with a QHD 165Hz display or an FHD 360Hz screen, all with 0.27-inch bezels.

The Intel-powered Nitro 5 15 is coming to EMEA in March starting at €999 and China in June starting at ¥5,999. The 17-inch model is coming to EMEA and China in March for €999 and ¥6,499, respectively. Both the AMD-powered Nitro 5 15 and Nitro 5 17 are coming to North America in February starting at $749.99, EMEA in February starting at €1,299, and China in January starting at ¥6,499.

Predator Triton 300

The new Predator Triton 300, like the new Predator Helios 300, comes with Tiger Lake-H35 processors. The Triton 300 comes with up to RTX 3060 graphics, and it comes in an all-metal chassis. Acer also touted its fifth-generation AeroBlade Fan and Vortex Flow technology, keeping things cool and performance consistent. The PC comes with a 14-inch FHD 144Hz screen, and ports that include Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI.

The Predator Helios is more of a spec bump, including the new Intel CPUs, up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU, and faster DDR4-3200 memory. The Predator Triton 300 is coming to North America in March starting at $1,399.99 and EMEA in February starting at €1,499. The Predator Helios 300 is coming to North America in February starting at $1,249.99, EMEA in February starting at €1,499, and China in February starting at ¥9,999.

Aspire 5

Back on the AMD side of things, there's a new Aspire 5 and Aspire 7, using new Ryzen 5000 mobile processors. The Aspire 7 comes with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650, coming in a chassis that weighs in at 4.73 pounds. It also comes with up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and up to a 1TB SSD. The 15.6-inch FHD display gives it an 81.61% screen-to-body ratio.

The Aspire 5, on the other hand, comes with an AMD Radeon RX 640 GPU, 24GB RAM, and up to a 1TB SSD. It's 0.7-inches thick, and comes with a 15.6-inch FHD display.

The Aspire 7 is coming to North America in March starting at $749.99 and EMEA in February starting at €899. The Aspire 5 is coming to North America in March starting at $549.99, EMEA in March starting at €699, and China in January starting at ¥4,999.
