You can now receive notifications from Yammer communities in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft rolled out the Yammer Communities app for Teams in April of last year. The integration lets users gain access to company announcements, live streams, and more on Yammer without leaving Teams.

Today, Microsoft is bringing another important update to that integration. Teams will now display notifications from Yammer communities in its Activity feed on the web, desktop, and mobile.

Murali Sitaram, Vice President of Yammer and Office 365 Groups, wrote in a blog post that the latest change pushes notifications for "high-value scenarios" like Yammer community announcements and @mentions within a conversation right within Teams. When you receive a notification and click on it, you'll be redirected to the conversation in the Communities app where you're mentioned, for example. You can also respond to a post and send reactions without having to switch from Teams to Yammer.

These notifications will also show up on the lock screen of mobile devices. Sitaram noted that this update comes in handy especially for major announcements related to company policies, safety information, and organizational change. If you haven't done it yet, you can install the Communities app in Teams in order to access this integration.
