mkol
Hello People, I upgraded to windows 19042.928 update recently. After the update the windows 10 recognize the wrong speed of ram. I have DDR 2 Ram 1066mhz 8gb and the speed comes up in spec and cpuz is 534mhz. Also the timing is wrong to the original timing of the memory is 5-5-5-15 and it reads 5-5-5-18. Any thoughts on this how to correct it. I did setup it up correctly in bios as 1066mhz, However the windows reads it wrong. Also I run memory tests and the mem is ok. Mindovermaster Moderator Posted April 18, 2021 Moderator Share Posted April 18, 2021 Double Data Rate 534 x 2 = ~1068 As for your timing, I am not sure. But knowing Windows, it usually reads it wrong. Long as it works well.
Steven P. Administrators Posted April 18, 2021 Administrators Share Posted April 18, 2021 I think CPU-Z https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html should tell you the actual speed, maybe give that a try?

IIRC, even that says half the speed. Been a while since I used that. But, he needs to learn that it's double.
mkol
Before the update in cpuz and spec, the speed use to show was 1066mhz. How come it drop down to 543mhz.
sava700
Turn off machine - pull out all but one chip ( reseat it anyway but leave one in). Restart - then after all up and going turn machine back off and put others back in and restart once more. See if that changed anything. I've seen that before back on Win7 once and that was my solution.
Mindovermaster Moderator Posted April 18, 2021 Moderator Share Posted April 18, 2021 (edited) What is your RAM rated for in BIOS/UEFI? Or, what is it set to? Try reseating the RAM like sava700 said..
Mindovermaster Moderator Posted April 18, 2021 Moderator Share Posted April 18, 2021 Unless you can prove to us that it "used" to show 1066, I find this very unlikely. mkol
In the bios it set to 1066mhz DDR 2 dual channel. ^ I might try taking out the ram and reinstall one by one as you said ^ And see if that's work.
Jim K Global Moderator Posted April 18, 2021 Global Moderator Share Posted April 18, 2021 Before you start ripping things out needlessly .. as mentioned before ... you need to double what CPU-Z is showing. What does task manager show? Example from my computer...
