Extending the streak of game delay announcements that have arrived this week, Ubisoft joined in today to reveal that both Rainbow Six Extraction (formerly Rainbow Six Quarantine) and Riders Republic will no longer meet their most recent launch plans. The two games have suffered delays in the past as well, though the latest setbacks aren't as heavy handed as before.
Ubisoft expected to launch Rainbow Six Extraction on September 16 this year, but with the delay, now the title will be launching in January 2022. Arriving as the newest entry in the popular tactical shooter series, Extraction is set to offer a completely cooperative AAA experience that has up to four players embarking on open ended missions with procedurally generated objectives.
"We are embracing the opportunity to take additional time to bring this vision to life in the way it deserves in January 2022," the development team says in the Ubisoft blog. "We are confident this will ensure Rainbow Six Extraction is the immersive, cooperative, and thrilling experience we set out to create, and the one you aspire to play."
Riders Republic, Ubisoft's massively multiplayer open world extreme sports game, had a September 2, 2021, launch planned for it, but with the new delay, it will now be releasing a little later in the year on October 28. A beta will kick off before the full release.
"To ensure we can deliver the best game for all players, we've made the tough decision to delay our release," the studio says in a separate blog post. "This will give us more time to fine tune the experience and give you another chance to jump in before launch and provide feedback."
These delays join the earlier ones from this week that saw Ghostwire: Tokyo and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide being pushed back to 2022.
