Microsoft has released new cumulative updates for Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring. The KB5004296 cumulative update is rolling out to Windows Insiders who are currently running versions 21H1 and 21H2. You can check out the changelog for both the cumulative updates below.

21H1 Build 19043.1149 (KB5004296) and 21H2 Build 19044.1149 (KB5004296) include the following:

  • We added a new policy that creates generic strings and removes branding-specific terms, such as “Windows” or “PC”, for IoT Enterprise editions. For example, we changed “computer” to “device”. Instead of “Getting Windows ready,” we changed that to “Getting things ready” and so on. These generic strings are displayed on a user’s screen when an update is in progress.

Do note that the update includes the aforementioned changes in addition to the improvements listed in Build 19043.1147 and Build 19044.1147 respectively.

Microsoft also noted that the Insiders in Beta Channel on 21H1 will not receive the KB5004296 as the Redmond giant is preparing to seed the first Windows 11 build to Beta Channel. Furthermore, Build 19044.1149 (KB5004296) is rolling out to Insiders who were moved from Beta to Release Preview because their hardware did not meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11.
