LOST.DIR folder question

Can the LOST.DIR folder on a flash drive or SD card be deleted without issue as it is taken a lot of space on my drives?

How big are they?  I thought they were usually just full of meta data?

That's just just messed up.

And yes I believe that data is for recovery when Android boots up again .

If everything is working fine it can be erased.

I thought LOST.DIR was the recovery folder for Android's equivalent of fsck ? Shouldn't it be examined with something ?

After deleting the lost.dir folder, i put the drive into my desktop, downloaded a bunch of tv shows from a CD I put that comes with 7 seasons worth of data on it. When I put the drive into my tablet, it only shows the 1st season.

Ok, here is what i had to do, downloaded I formatter from google play store to tablet, formatted it and then place video files on the flash drive. All works well now. :)
