BitchX for OSX

Recommended Posts

Has anyone gotten bitchx to work in panther? I don't mean the fink install, but the actuall os x binary. Every time i try to run it i get a missing ncurses error, and when i try to install ncurses i get a missing strstream.h.

so if anyone has been able to get it to work please say how here. Thanks

dyld: ./BitchX can't open library: /usr/local/lib/libncurses.dylib.5  (No such file or directory, errno = 2)

It needs ncurses for the colored output. You may be able to exclude it with a ./configure --disable, but I'm not too sure. Personally, I'd recommend installing fink, because it has a sizable .patch it runs to fix some things on OS X.

i installed BitchX using fink, it works np. However im trying to find where the configurations file is for specially my nick and to take that auto-connect when it starts up it ****es me off. I did /save and it save BitchX.sav on my home folder but i dont see anything there that lets me change my default nick and to stop that auto-connect at startup. Anyone willing to give some hints here. Thanks.

some of the configs don't like to save, just create a .bitchxrc file in your home directory and place the config commands in it that you need. it will all of the contents of this file at startup.

i don't know about the auto-connect thing, but you can just type the server you want to connect to after BitchX in the command line.

ie: BitchX irc.efnet.org
