HP DL380 G7 and Nvidia Tesla K80 Assistance

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone.

Long time no speak. Hope you're all well.

Ive got a HP DL380 G7 that I want to put an Nvidia Tesla K80 in to.

I'm having problems trying to source a power cable as I've bought the graphics card from Ebay.

Ive got a few 10pin headers on the server motherboard that are usually for fan outputs that I was trying to find a 10pin to 8pin cable for.

Anything you could recommend to me, or even if your running the same sort of setup in your server would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Hello,

I noticed there are several Nvidia Tesla K80 replacement power cables listed on Amazon.  Would one of these do, or do you need to replace the power breakout board for the HP DL380 G7 server's proprietary power supply as well?

Thank Aryeh.

I believe Ive found one that goes from a 10pin conversion to a 8pin now.

Thank you for your assistance.

Just out of interest, but does anyone else have this Tesla K80 plugged in to the same model of server.

Its a dual height card and Ive got a gut feeling its not going to fit snuggly.

May have to cable tie it to the top of the servers unmountable chassis just to get it to fit correctly.

Never mind. My fault for buying something not fit for purpose.

Ill find a way to make it work, even if Ive got to demo it to the community.

Thank you Aryeh for your help.

Hello,

That is kind of an unusual configuration, so I do not know how many other folks may have a similar configuration; in my experience, most people using systems like these buy them preconfigured with the GPUs already installed.  Hewlett-Packard does make server chassis in all sorts of U-sizes, so perhaps you can transfer all of the components inside the Hewlett-Packard DL380 G7 chassis to a larger one.
