DELL Latitude E4310 RAM higher than @1066 possible?

Recommended Posts

Just a question... on an old DELL Latitude E4310 can higher DDR3 memory speeds than 1066 also be applied?

The max RAM is 8 GB, but some higher speeds like 12800 are somewhat cheaper....

Hello,

Generally speaking, faster speeds of DDR3 SO-DIMMs are backwards-compatible with slower speeds, and will just run at that speed when installed in a system that cannot use the faster speed.  You can check with the memory manufacturer to verify this for a specific part number you are interested in (if you have that).

Yeah, technically you can use faster RAM. Just your system may not be able to use the faster speed.

If it's cheaper, get 'em. :)

more likely than not, a locked down Dell laptop will automatically set the speed and timings of the RAM. You wont be able to change that.

Yes, but he can still use it at a lower speed,
