Can not remove "Desktop" from quick access in Explorer

In explorer, under quick access Desktop will not remove despite me right clicking on it and telling to to unpin. I have tried the other options listed when I search for this issue and none of them has resolved the issue. I do not like it there, and want it to unpin, but it will not. Has anyone else experienced this or know of a way to remove it?

Sadly neither one of those removed the folder. I am wondering if it is only virtually there, since none of the fixes I have tried remove it.

Hello,

 

Perhaps a restart is needed in order for this particular change to take appear?  I'm not sure what that would be the case when others show up immediately, but it should be a quick check.

So just to check, in the left hand navigation pane, you want the Desktop to be removed?

Or do you want the Desktop to be removed from "Quick Access"?

 

Sorry, I may have got confused before as I don't have Quick Access at all (I just use the address bar to get to the Desktop quickly).

OK cool, so yeah on same page...

 

So odd. I just click on the Quick Access title, delete shortcut within... but this doesn't work for desktop...

 

I wonder if in any way this is related to OneDrive sync?  It has that icon...

I've seen them get immovably stuck before too. Try:

 

Exit out of explorer, run regedit and delete:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Ribbon\QatItems

I just tried that and it did not make any difference

I just removed Desktop from OneDrive and it removed it from the quick access!

Have you tried removing it using AeroTweaker? That is a great utility.

I keep this on the back burner for now, after i deleted it from Onedrive, it removed itself from Quick Access
