Nvidia reportedly halts RTX 3090 Ti production even before it is out

RTX 3090 Ti

Nvidia has reportedly halted the production of its upcoming Ampere flagship card, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. This report comes via TweakTown which was informed by an industry source that Nvidia has asked its Add-in-Board (AIB) partners to "pause production" of the monster GPU. However, when inquired about the rationale behind the alleged decision, there were no definitive answers provided.

A previous report from VideoCardz claimed that the RTX 3090 Ti could launch on January 11th and will be available later in the month on the 27th. The embargo time for retail availability was apparently 6 a.m. PT on 27 January.

However, the January 11th launch evidently didn't happen and so it's unlikely for the card to be on-shelf on the 27th either, giving slightly more credibility to the TweakTown report today.

Interestingly, at the CES 2022 keynote, Nvidia asked the audience to "tune in later this month for more details", implying that a January launch was inevitable. However, the company may have had a change of heart and mind due to some reason.

In terms of specs, the upcoming 3090 Ti will feature 24GB of the fastest GDDR6X memory on the entire Ampere lineup at 21Gbps. The card is rumored to pack the full GA102 die with 10,752 CUDA Cores.
