Just roasted some last night for dinner. Little butter, little cinnamon... I dunno about pies, not tried them as a dessert, but I do love sweet potatoes... Much yum! Much yum! In many parts of the US sweet potato pies are more popular than pumpkin pies. Their use dates back to native Americans, sweet potatoes being indigenous to North America (not the same variety as a yam), then they became popular in the south among African Americans and eventually Southerners in general. Then they migrated.
