markwolfe Veteran Posted February 16, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 16, 2004 I think the best way is to just post on the forum, and we will all try to help you the best that we can. By using outside PM systems, no one else gets to learn and benefit from your questions. If you want some assisted tutoring, maybe look for a local Linux User's Group (LUG) in your area. They are usually around universities, and such. Find out when they have meetings, or look for an "installfest" - the knowledgeable users there will be more than happy to show a noob the ropes. And, my next recommendation is to go to a bookstore and browse through the Linux books and find one that talks to your expereince level, yet covers the challenging subjects you want to cover, and read up a bit. (my personal experience with the "Learn Linux in 24 Hours" series isn't good, but you may find that useful). Welcome to the world of freedom of choice. :) Mark [EDIT: P.S. To find someone who will tell you everything you want to know about shell commands, man is 'the man', ya dig? ;)]
tr1kstanc3
try going to your local computer store and picking up a linux manual for the specific distro you are going to get. i would actually pay the money to get the documentation it really helped me when i started using linux a few years back... also support the developers =)

chavo
And don't forget IRC. Although a lot of people in #linux treat n00bs pretty harshly. It is still a great place to learn. Also google is your bestest friend in the whole world.
