XST1
Heres what I think... and after 8 months of struggling this is all I got.... put your trust in the geeks and wait for another kernel release. Its honestly your only option.

MrA
Would you mind posting the make and model of your motherboard. Maybe one of us could do some digging because I'm sure there should be an option to allow older OSs (DOS, win9x, etc) to install. This should allow linux to install also. Like I said earlier, my mobo has a 'compatibility mode' which restricts the mobo to two ATA controllers rather than three. It' would be stupid of your mobo manufacturer to not put this option in the BIOS.

MrA
Looking through the manual, I have two suggestions. 1. Disable the On-board PCI IDE controller that isn't in use. 2. Change the SiS Serial ATA Mode to IDE. This is assuming that you arent using RAID. And also disable all the RAID crap.
Rudy
should i disable both or just one?? cuz ill need one because my 3 cd drives are on the IDE controller
Rudy
I disabled ide1, so my SATA drive was on ide2 but for some reasons the installation only looks on ide0 and ide1 and wont look at ide2 :(
MrA
Well, all I can say is wait a few months and maybe linux will start supporting your mobo. Sorry.
