Looking for an option to playback music via Alexa

Recommended Posts

My nephew (non-verbal/non-communicative autistic) would greatly benefit from having music played in his room, and I have an alexa device in the room and would like to broadcast music to it without having to purchase a subscription to Amazon music or Spotify, etc. My original thought was using an old cellphone to access Plex that I have running on my desktop, he does have a laptop, but he will not leave it alone (he used it to watch movies, but has lost interest in it and has not touched it in months) I also don't think that a laptop can broadcast to Alexa. If anyone else has some ideas, please share them!

You can run Spotify. with no subscription, Just you'll hear advertisements.

Just wondering.. If he's non-verbal, how will he run the Alexa?

OK, I forgot about Spotify free. As to your second question, he wouldn't, someone else would start it for him.

Oh, OK, that explains it ;)

Edit: Does he have a TV in his room? You can play music through that.

here you go - perfect solution if you ask me..  And can be setup to play with touch of a button for non verbal use.

No TV. I am surprised that his laptop is still there, he tends to become aggressive and throw things around as well as stomp around when he gets mad.

Can't you buy him a kid's tablet with rubber sides? So if he throws it, it won't get damaged.
