Watt
I thought I saw a thread on this topic a little while ago, but it appears to have gone. My question is: Is there a way to display icons bigger than 72 on WinXP, such as OS X's 128 size? Please let me know if you have any info. Guest deadzombie
Why are you using the avatar I made as your sig? If you want your own, just ask. Please don't use mine.
Guest deadzombie
BTW, I know how to display icons at sizes bigger than 72x72. I keep my icons at 128x128; If we resolve the avatar issue I'll be happy to post how-to screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
Yazoo
by increasing desktop icons, you also increase icons in other areas too, like the start menu
TheStvo
hey dead, hook it up with the icons! :D some kind of set would be nice. oh yeah how did u do the huge desktop icons? i didnt borrow your avitar but would be glad to give it back. ;) oh yeah how'd u do the osx bar at the bottom? good sh!t. Guest deadzombie
I will as soon as Watt gives the 'whatsup' on my avatar. if he wants his own I'll make him one.
MajorSham
I don't particularly care about OSX related threads, but I looked into this one due to the 128x128 size icons subject. Deadzombie, you are being quite childish. Who cares if someone else uses your avatar in their signature? You place an image on the net, and think that NO ONE ELSE will use it? On top of this, you're not the only person out there who knows about 128x128 icons. Are you making the assumption that we'll pressure Watt into changing his signature just because you know how to implement 128x128 icons in the way you have? Pfft. :right:
Dazzla Veteran Posted February 13, 2002 Veteran Share Posted February 13, 2002 HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktopWindowMetrics then alter the key "Shell Icon Size" to whatever you want, 128 x 128 isn't the limit. It will need a log-out and login or a restart or a restart explorer to take effect. I must warn you though that it is 128 throughout the system. There are ways around it though (with comprimises). Such as, setting all folder views to "tiles", disabling autoplay, disabling the "place" bar, getting rid of the icons on the right had side of the start menu. I hope this helps. Deadzombie, you are being quite childish. I hate to agree but...
Yazoo
lol, deadzombie how many of the icons in your desktop did you create huh?
Guest deadzombie
Childish? hmmm, maybe in your opinion, yes. But I submit my point of view; I like my avatar, which I created from an original idea. I actually had to get permission to use the yellow gel button in the image. I have also made an avatar for EVERY SINGLE PERSON that has asked for one. Watt didn't ask me to use the avatar, didn't ask for one of his own AND he didn't search the forums to see if his question has already been answered. (there are many threads that already explain this issue.) I didn't yell, I didn't call Watt names, and I didn't say he was a lazy #@*&, which is what he's acting like, ripping people and getting others to do his own work. Instead I asked him to msg me. I offered to help him. I offered to put my limited skills to work on his behalf. So if I withhold readily available information until he does this I'm being childish? Maybe you're right. It was immature of me to even waste my time... So tell me, was I childish? or was Watt, for being lazy and theiving others work? BTW: I may not have created the original of every icon on my desktop, but i sure as h3ll got permission from the owner before using it.

JEMCARTY2K
How can I take the labels of items in start menu to at leat make the menu look good
Guest deadzombie
Under XP the start menu expanded to encompass the new icon sizes for me, although I had already reduced the items shown to only include printers / run / all programs / shutdown - restart. When I switch to the 'classic' menu all of my icons are 16x16 -> I have no idea what to make of that... anyone know a registry key to assign these sizes?->I'll make you an avatar if you like (lol! j/j) [thnx Dazzla - I'm trying to also have a new, original sig everyday ->wait til you see Windows XP, Terrorist Edition, coming soon]

Watt
BTW...deadzombie, where are you from in TEXAS? I'm from Dallas ( yeah, I know, hate me ), but I'm currently stationed in Hawaii.:bandit:
Guest deadzombie
I live in The Woodlands (North of Houston), I was born in Dallas and my wife lived in Dallas most of her life! Anyone from Texas can't be that bad...:D [As promised] Icon size change for WinXP 1.) Recommend changing your vertical and horizontal icon spacing to 72 (Display Properties->Appearance->Advanced->Item) before changing your icon size to 128x128, otherwise, your icons will overlap. 2.) Start Menu->Run->"regedit"(to open registry)->HKEY_CURRENT_USER Control Panel Desktop Windowmetrics. Look for the Shell Icon Size Key. It will be set to match your current icon size. Right click on the key and Modify. Change the Value Data to 128. Hit OK. Exit regedit, log out of WinXP, log back in. Your icons should be HUGE in any resolution smaller than 1280x1024. Hope that explains the process in detail.
TheStvo
glad everything is resolved. how about some icons deadzombie? gotta love them huge icons. and what'd u use for the dock? cool dsktop. :s
Guest deadzombie
check out this thread for my super cool dock. the only icons I have in my themes library are something like 3,800 128x128 OSX icons. I don't use smaller sizes very often, so I don't convert those image formats when I do OSX icons. I'll send icons to anyone, but the only way I'll send my icons out is over MSNM between 6:00pm and 11:00pm CST. And on Saturday mornings until noon, because then I have to watch 2 hours of Dragonball Z with my 3 kids...
