mahiles
Ok so this is probably a really common question but where can I find a guide for installing the nvidia drivers for the 2.4.22 kernel in slackware? Everything I search for is on about the 2.6.x kernels which I aren't going to try out yet..
markwolfe Veteran Posted February 17, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 17, 2004 Did you look at the nVidia website? If I recall correctly, they have pretty good instructions with their downloads.
hornett
I don't know if this is the best way but I just logged into the root account, used init 3 to get to a command line only session then run sh NVIDIA-Linux-1.0 ... and let it do its thing. You will need to change the driver part for the graphics device section to nvidia in the /etc/X11/XF86Config file.

Almost exactly, anyhow... Except I don't "log in" as root. :o I log in as me, and just su to root to do the dirty work, and exit back to me again. I have a phobia about logging in as root... MulletRobZ
Should install without problems if you're running Slackware. The only thing may be to relink the kernel headers in the Makefile or something like that.
