its just that i hate the windows look

btw do u know a good distro wich will work with my onboard sound?

First of all, if you actually expect an answer to a question like this, you think you might wanna tell us what the hell you have? Makes sense, yes? Secondly, there are already 4000 threads in this forum asking the same thing - "Which Linux distro is the best?" Try a search. The most popular ones seem to be Gentoo, Slackware, Debian, Mandrake, SuSE, and Redhat/Fedora Core.

:D you haven't seen some of the things i have... people reshack files for hours and all sorts of stuff... more than just a theme.

Ya, because OSX is beeeee-uuu-teee-ful! :) Just Mac platform is too expensive! haha... Win Aqua is the poor man's Mac (and I'm a poor man :D )

Isn't "WinAqua" a Windows thing? How do you afford MS Windows? :rofl: :whistle:

well i tryed all kinds of things: fydora: unusable with this god damn mobo

second: mandrake, have managed to work ones but thats it. gentoo, never got it to install, slackware scewed my windows good enough to reinstal it red hat doesnt like my mobo either.

i bought a network card some couple of days ago but i wonder wich will work with my onboard sound.

also: how do u install it? u just unzip the stuff? i know in windows but hell , iam a linux b00n:P

also, i got 2 hard disks:

1= 120 gig's in 2 parts : 30 gb for windows and the rest voor stuff ( is full so)

2 = 60 gigs, 1 part with enough room for linux ( 12 gigs )

do i need to unlocate it( unpartitionate it ) in partition magic? or do i have to make ext 3 linux things?

thnx

most linux distributions should not interfere with windows. slackware is not a good place to start. If you have time its a great way to learn though.

I suggest you stick with mandrake. If you google you can find all sorts of themes for the different guis that come with mandrake. the 2 most common are kde and gnome. both of these have a lot of skins. google is your friend

expensive? since when?

you can buy a previous generation, new in box ibook from apple for $800 or go on ebay and find an old imac and buy that for about $500. both run osx... the ibook runs it better though.

keyword == 'old'

some people just don't want old stuff ;)

Some installations are as simple as double-clicking an icon. Others have build scripts. There are always (usually) instructions in the form of a "readme" or something with anything more complex than a "click this to install" type of thing.

As for your nVidia drivers in Linux, you will need to download it to a *writeable* Linux partition, as I believe it uncompresses itself. You will then have to exit your X Window environment (do an "init 3" at a console with root permissions) and execute their script from a command prompt.
