isus
Well I plan on getting my PB around senior year. And thats 2006. So the G5 powerbooks might be here at that time dont you think? they should definitely be here by 2006

xxdesmus
i'd say go with a 15" or 17" pb just because g5pb are quite a ways off...they aren't even confirmed yet...and they have stated severals times that they won't be released in the near future. dare i ask the obvious question, why are you strictly looking at mac's? ...you could get a comparable if not better pc laptop (windows/linux) for less money than either an imac of a g4pb ...just my opinion
HuRR
Powerbook , just because its portable and the ram is upgradeable.

isus
how bout early 2005? i would guesstimate that g5's are in pbooks by q1 2005, if not by q4 '04... but like superfula said, nobody really knows.
isus
imac's is too right? after the fact cant u put it in urself? yea, you can... but the max the imac supports is 1gb, and the pbook supports up to 2gb.
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted February 18, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 18, 2004 Here's something critical: If you only *think* you need the portability, you don't need the portability I've seen countless people buy a portable computer and only leave it on their desk. Sure, they have the option to take it wherever, but it's not often and not worth the expense. Get the iMac. I had one (sold it to my roommate), it's great, well-built, high quality, very fast, whisper quiet. It's probably the best Mac they make, next to the PowerMac. isus
So they do they ever use it in class? Or work with it around the campus? that would be my life... getting an airport extreme, one of those dr. bott antennas, and going out into the beautiful campus, getting work done, getting a tan, getting fresh air, and seeing the sights :)
giga Veteran Posted February 18, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 18, 2004 The thing is, I'll have my regular desktop with me at the desk all the time. (PC) So my next computer will most likely be a notebook mac.
