Microsoft Takes Orders For Security Update CD

Recommended Posts

Microsoft began taking orders [Neowin Link] this week for its promised Security Update CD. The free CD includes all critical security fixes issued by Microsoft since October 2003 for Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows 98, and Windows 98 Second Edition (SE). There also is some free antivirus and firewall trial software on the CD, as well, according to reports. The CD is targeted primarily at customers who have had problems keeping up with the myriad Microsoft fixes due to bandwidth constraints. In other security news, Microsoft has launched its online "Security Guidance Center" for IT professionals and developers. The company is offering a free Security Guidance Kit CD there, as well, which includes "tools, templates, roadmaps and how-to guides in addition to our prescriptive security guidance," according to the Web site.
