Si Veteran Posted February 20, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 20, 2004 yes and I don't see any reason why not. You just won't be able to plug the power adapter into the socket :p
Steve
I guess it would. Only problem would be the external charger plug would be American, besides that, i can't think of a problem. Be careful tho, i've been stung importing ish, with Import Tax! :(

Be careful tho, i've been stung importing ish, with Import Tax! :( If the iPod mini is considered a computer device, you only have to pay VAT (sales tax @ 17.5% for UK residents). Add to it the VERY attractive ?:$; exchange rate and even I'm tempted to buy one:)).

am_fek
Out of interest, where would you guys be importing it from? In other words, are you thinking of buying online and if so, where? It's not only the Sterling that's doing well against $US, basically every currency has gone up huge against it this past year. It's a good time to be importing, especially with Apple's global warranties :)

Bling3k12
I'm assuming he's gonna go buy one and ship as they've just hit the stores on Friday. If anything, my services are available, you can even ask NeYo to vouch for my reliability on international shipping. We shipped over $400 in stuff for his G4 Cube, no problem... although I do hear that Import Tax is a killer.

HeXetic
i really want to get 1 now the only thing holding me back is the importing tax, how much will it be?
aldo
Tasadar: 17.5% of the value of the goods. Customs works this out by just looking at the amount you insured it for - so if you are willing to take the risk you could under-insure it to save on the VAT. Computing items attract no import duty. Casey bought some stuff from eBay, and we got them shipped via UPS, to my place. Shipping I think came to about ?40 - ?50, i forget. But then I had to pay ?62 i think, C.O.D. This kinda sucks, because I didn't know it was gonna happen, or if so, how much... but keep it in mind.
thetman
ok it would be brand spanking new, just doing this a a generous thing and so i can say i bought one. the mini would be $240+ whatever tax and shipping you need. the 15 would be $290 + tax/ship 20gb would be $378 +tax ship 40 $468. id rather not look like a guy who is doing this for some profit, as i hafta to have a manager sign off on employee purchases and getting them to sign off on two dozen ipods w/o profit to the store might not look too good for me but i likd to be i nice guy so ill offer this for a little while and see how it goes
