hornett
Problem 1: I'm having a couple of problems with Fedora. I can't install Epiphany because when i try to 'apt-get install epiphany', I get a message saying 'The following packages have unmet dependencies: epiphany: Depends: mozilla (= 38:1.6) but 52:1.6-1 is to be installed E: Broken packages ' However, I have the latest version of Mozilla installed already. I've tried running apt-get clean to no avail. How do I fix it? Problem 2: In Opera, Firefox and Mozilla I can't get Flash to work. I've downloaded the plug in and put it in to the correct dir (~/.phoenix/plugins for firefox) but if I do about:plugins it is not listed and it will not play flash files. I've looked on google but all I can find are references to some libc files, whiich I have installed but made no difference. Does anybody know how to make them play nice? Information OS: Fedora Core 1 Kernel 2.4 Firefox version 0.8 Opera 7.23 Mozilla 1.6 Thanks for any help :)
splatnix
Problem 1: Epiphany requires Mozilla 1.6, and the package you will be installing (from your example you show) is Mozilla 1.6-1. Yes, that -1 will mean the difference between compatibilty. You seem to have one of the non-offical apt-repositories (ie. non-Libra or non-Fedora.us) in your sources.list or a testing/bleeding repository. Mozilla-1.6-1 is the most recent on the repository you're looking to install from (or have installed from). I think it might be from the testing/bleeding ATrpms, but I'm not sure. I avoid those repository levels because of issues like this one. Problem 2: The Flash issue is a known problem that's been fixed both in the offical and non-offical yum/apt repositories (and in FC2/test1). You need to update to the latest libstdc++ package in order for Flash to work.
aldo
Problem 1. Get yourself synaptic (makes it really easy to solve these sort of things): apt-get install synaptic then just type synaptic or goto fedora menu --> system tools --> synaptic. Once you've done this, search for Mozilla in the top right hand box and click on the mozilla package. In one of the tabs there will be an option to change the installed version. Now just hit execute and it will downgrade to Mozilla 1.6 and then you can install Epiphany at will :).
LordHatrus
Just force the install, it doesn't REALLY have those package dependencies.... It's all in your mind.... j/k, don't do it! :)
