LordHatrus
If you like LIVE CDs, you'll like diskless computers even more.... no hard disks, no CD-ROMs.... all network, baby. Of course, you'll want a mobo that supports boot on network, and even then, you have to have a server always on to boot these things.... But it works for me!

splatnix
I'm interested to see how you like Lindows Live vs. any other Live CD system out there. i just wanted to check it out.. Right on! ;) I'm preppin' to install Lindows on my 6GB laptop drive to give it a test whirl to see what it's like.
markwolfe Veteran Posted February 21, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 21, 2004 I have installed LindowsOS (the free download of the "Developers" edition) on my 9 year old's PC. It worked just as advertised, and I was actually a bit impressed with the work and polish that Lindows put into the OS. It is suitable for a newbie to PCs who wants a reliable, easy-to-use PC. No worries about viruses, either! ;) I would not recommend it for most of the expereinced computer users I know. It is a Linux for people who do NOT want to "look under the hood". (and who among us wouldn't want to open up that hood?) The Debian heart of Linux is there, but covered in LindowsOS syrup.
aldo
Lindows has a bad name because of it's 'using root' issue. This has been solved since version 2. Personally, I'm not going to be installing it but i think some people are overly harsh about it...
KeR
I tried the live CD version of it a couple of months ago, it's not too bad, I don't see what people are complaining about.
