Is this running inside a VirtualPC window on a Windows desktop?

I can help with resolutions on a 'real' install, but I have never used VirtualPC.

On a full install, you can use CTRL+ALT+[num pad '+'] or CTRL+ALT+[num pad '-'] to go up or down in resolution. Not sure if this will work when virtualized.

Also, shouldn't your Virtual Linux install get all the hardware info (including screen resolution) from whatever VirtualPC tells it?

I hope this helps (even though it probably won't help much with anything specific).

Then I am certain that the answer is in your VirtualPC settings. Not the Linux install. You will need to find a way to have VirtualPC tell Linux what resolution to run.

Unfortunately, as I said earlier, I don't know VirtualPC... :(

Any OS on virtual pc is in fact, a "Real install", just not with "Real" hardware detection. you can change the resolution in your Virtual Linux, just the way you would in a real Linux install, furthermore, just as you can in Windows 9x/2k/xp on virtual PC.

In that case, my earlier suggestion to try CRTL+ALT+[num pad '+'] would have worked....

... but surely, there must be some sort of 'real' hardware support?!??!

Otherwise, I mean, what can you do in linux?! Word processing/internet?!?! Doesn't sound like a power-users dream.....

And if the keyboard commands dont work <a lot of the keyboard commands involving the modifier keys like CTRL and ALT will get intercepted by windows), theres a xfree86 config sitting somewhere(I don't remember :blushing: ), and you can change it in there... (Unless you're having trouble not with X, but with the shell, which has a unusual resolution (700x400 I think>?)
