    • Yeah, DeX is awesome. Really wish Samsung would bring back Linux on DeX though. With the ability to run full-fledged Linux applications on it, literally enabling the development of Android and Linux apps on their Android devices. Perhaps once stock Android finally catches up, Samsung will bring that back as a 1-up functionality with their implementation...
    • On a completely seperate thing I see your beloved Samsung DeX is becomming very interesting on Android. I've conversed with you for years now and you have always been a fan of DeX. I'm sending you a PM on who I am on Disqus.
    • Microsoft Security Copilot arrives in Surface Management Portal, supercharging IT pros by Paul Hill Microsoft Security Copilot, an AI cybersecurity product for threat detection and response, is now generally available for IT pros within the Surface Management Portal (SMP). For those unaware, SMP is a dedicated workspace within the Intune admin center for Surface device data and insights. The integration brings generative AI to Surface device management workflows. This development is an expansion of Microsoft’s Security Copilot’s GA for Entra which was announced at the same time. Microsoft announced four key pillars where Security Copilot can help in Entra: identity insights and investigation, access governance and review, app and resource protection, and monitoring and posture management. With Security Copilot, SMP is enhanced with a conversational AI layer which gives admins easier access and action on data. For example, you could ask things like “Which devices are out of compliance and out of warranty?, “Show devices with TPM disabled and BitLocker off”, or “Estimate carbon emissions from our Surface fleet”. This new feature offers admins tangible benefits like faster resolution, less manual effort, tailored insights, and a stronger security posture. Admins that have tried this in public preview since February reported sharpened decision making. Discussing the integrated nature of Security Copilot and SMP, Microsoft's Rohan Brooker said: “Security Copilot in the Surface Management Portal brings the integrated value of Microsoft Surface hardware, Windows firmware, Intune, and Security engineers operating as one team. Together, they enable signals to move seamlessly from Surface devices into Intune and Copilot’s language model—giving admins richer, real-time context with the tools they already use.” To use this feature, you’ll need to add Security Compute Units (SCUs) and enable the SMP plugin in Security Copilot. While this may already be out of beta, Microsoft still wants to hear what you think, you can use the feedback button in the portal to suggest improvements.
    • Flameshot 13.0 RC1 by Razvan Serea Flameshot is a free and open-source, cross-platform tool to take screenshots with many built-in features to save you time. Using Flameshot is as simple as launching, dragging the selection box to cover the area you want to capture, making annotations as needed in on-screen and saving the shot to your computer, all with a very simple and straightforward interface. Flameshot allows users to simply upload their screenshots directly to the cloud in order to easily share it with others. You can upload your image directly to Imgur with a single click and share the URL with others. In-app screenshot editing - You can choose to add an arrow mark, highlight text, blur a section (blur or pixelate an area), add a text, draw something, add a rectangular/circular shaped border, add an incrementing counter number, and add a solid color box with Flameshot's built-in editing tools. Command-line interface (CLI) - Flameshot has several commands you can use in the terminal without launching the GUI via a command line interface. The command line interface lets you script Flameshot and use it as the subject of key binds. Flameshot 13.0 RC1 changelog: Breaking Changes Snap packages are likely to be dropped for version 13 unless someone can help with the confinement issue discussed here: #4016 The imgur uploader is disabled by default at compile time. Users that wish to re-enable this can build from source with -DENABLE_IMGUR. We expect this to be a bit controversial but we believe this is the best direction for the project. The goal for Flameshot is to be a lightweight screenshot / annotation program. The imgur uploader is a program in its own right The authors of Flameshot are increasingly privacy conscious. Having a misclick in a screenshot program accidentally upload sensitive data feels very risky. We continue to discuss and iterate ideas for a plugin system. When that is completed users who wish to have an uploader right in their screenshot program can implement this in a plugin We will keep the imgur uploader code in the code base until plugins are ready Please let us know your thoughts either way. This is not a vote, but we are interested in the communities opinion. Flameshot returns exit code 1 if taking screenshot is canceled (e.g., by pressing Esc). This is to make Flameshot easier to integrate into shell scripts. Configuration window tabs were re-ordered according to their importance to users. New Features Flatpak is now verified in Flathub.
