2TB Crucial X9 external SSD for just $103 makes it hard to resist on Amazon Prime Day by Sayan Sen This Amazon Prime Day 2025, Crucial is offering its external 4TB X10 Pro SSD for only $230 which makes it a great buy considering the drive can push data at up to 2000 MB/s. And it is not just external SSDs, the company is also offering the P310 (2280) 4TB for a price of $235.
However, not everyone may have the budget for it. As such, if you are willing to spend around just $100 for an external drive, then Crucial's X9 2TB SSD is now available for just $103 (purchase link down below).
Crucial promises up to 1050 MB/s on the X9 for both the sequential speed metrics. To enable such speeds, the SSD supports USB 3.2 interface and comes with a type-C to type-C USB cable in the box.
In terms of durability, the X9 packs IP55 water and dust resistance and the firm claims that the drive's drop-proof durability is up to 7.5 feet or just over 2 meters. The X9 has a lanyard hole.
Keep in mind that the X9 comes with QLC (quad-level cell) NAND flash, unlike the X10 Pro linked above (that is TLC), and thus it may not be ideal for constant sustained reads and writes due to QLC's inherent lower endurance. However, it should still be great for occasional bursts for long durations and backups (Speaking of backup, check this 24 TB Seagate CMR HDD deal for just $245).

Samsung's alternative to Android Auto may be called Auto DeX by Sagar Naresh Bhavsar
When it comes to smartphone integration systems in cars, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are the only two players in the segment. They let you enjoy most of your phone's apps on your car's screen, either through a wired or wireless connection.
However, it appears that Samsung may be working on an alternative to Android Auto. A few months ago, an app called "Samsung Auto" was allegedly available in certain markets. It could easily connect to a wide range of vehicles from brands like Audi and BMW, among others, through Baidu CarLife+ or ICCOA CarLink. The catch? It was only compatible with cars sold exclusively in China.
Fast forward to now, according to leaker who goes by the name GalaxyTechie on X suggests that Samsung may have an alternative ready for the global market. The leaker discovered a new feature in Samsung software called "Auto DeX," and it is purported to support over 8,500+ car models from over 120 brands.
In the attached screenshot, an Android Auto/Apple CarPlay-like UI is visible, with Samsung's One UI take. In the center, there is a section for showing navigation, then on the top-right, there is a Now Brief panel, and just below that, a music player widget.
To the far left, there is a horizontal list of apps along with time at the top. On the bottom right, there is Samsung's three-button navigation. Interestingly, GalaxyTechie suggests that anyone will be able to use Auto DeX on their phone—even if their car doesn't support it or they don't have a car at all.
For now, things are a bit hazy regarding which app Samsung will present to the world as an alternative to Android Auto. Who knows, Samsung may even give us a glimpse of its Android Auto alternative at the upcoming Unpacked event. Image via GalaxyTechie on X
Microsoft is working on AI-powered dynamic desktop backgrounds in Windows 11 by Usama Jawad
Windows 11 Insider Preview builds are rolled out on a frequent basis, bringing new features and enhancements. While Microsoft publicizes most new capabilities via dedicated blog posts, there are some improvements which are hidden - or dormant - because they are still under development and the company isn't ready to take off the wraps just yet. A recent example of this is the upcoming redesigned battery indicator which is actively being worked on.
Now, prolific Windows enthusiast @phantomofearth on X (formerly Twitter) has uncovered a few details about Microsoft's latest, unpublicized Windows efforts. It seems like the firm is yet again working on AI-powered desktop backgrounds. Strings inside recent Windows 11 preview builds refer to Dynamic background and a dialog message noting that "Your background will automatically update based on your selections".
Although these references are present in the Insider builds, they have not been developed yet, so it is impossible to enable and test them, at least for now. This also means that it is unclear what factors will influence the dynamic nature of the desktop background. The "selections" indicate that users will have to give at least some sort of input in order to take advantage of this feature. However, it would be really interesting to see Windows using other local indicators present on your PC such as telemetry about your digital routine and preferences to figure out what AI-generated or AI-rotated dynamic background would suit your style.
This is not the first time we have seen hints about Microsoft making headway in this area. Back in March 2023, we saw references to Depth effects, Parallax Background, and WallpaperMotion, but those were fairly difficult to enable and test too. You would think that Microsoft would be ready to roll out AI-powered dynamic desktop backgrounds soon to ride this wave of AI, but given that it has been at least two years since the company has been working on this front, it's difficult to predict timelines for general availability.
