ok wtf

I downloaded the firefox.dmg file to install firefox on my new mac () and all it contains is a single file called 'firefox' which seems to be the entire application. are osx apps all self contained or something?

You're not wrong. It's quite shocking sometimes to see the simplicity of MacOS after you've been using Windows for a while.

A couple of weeks ago I was mucking about with Basilisk II emulating MacOS8... imagine my surprise when, having installed an old version of Internet Explorer for MacOS, I discover dozens of MS libraries, files and folders scattered across the system folder.

It upset me to see MS poisoning MacOS by porting their filthy apps in such a way that they run in a similarly fragmented and disorganised manner as they do on Windows.

Incidentally, I think FireFox is great.
