riaa + macs

Yes.

They **AA groups just look for what files you're making available on a P2P network, download one (presumably) and let loose the hounds of hell. They don't need physical access to the machine or for you to run any 'unique' software. As long as you're sharing files you can be detected and sued.

Nope, nothing is safe because in the end all da packets go thru ur isp and they will turn you over

PS. I love how your asking if you can avoide being caught illegally downloading music, but your sig has a 'I support legal music download' thing on it....

Nice touch, thatll throw off the authorities

Of course they Use IP's people dont know about..... You are never entirely safe whether using a PC or mac, it doesnt matter. You would be alot safer if you could use a proxy but even then if the authorities want to catch you they WILL.

so poison is safe? i mean how do u change ur ip or whatever... and does it def. block out riaa?

If you look in the giFT config file you can see all the IPs that they block, they block at least 1 IP from just about ever movie and music studio, I think they have about 3000 ips in the list.

You cant change your IP, your ISP would have to do that.

Even if you do change your IP (ie: dial up internet) it's not going to matter. Your ISP will have logs of which customer had which IP on what days. When "the man" comes looking for you they'll get a lawyer and say:

"At <time> on <date> a customer of <your ISP> illegally made a digital encoding of several copyrighted works including <song> from <your IP>. We request that <ISP> turn over the customer name and contact information to further our investigation."

They send off some subpoenas, the ISP checks logs, finds your name - and then you get to experience the legal system first hand.
