Moparx
i upgraded to the development build of gnome & nautilus on my fedora system today because i like running the latest builds of everything when i can. gnome itself appears to be running completely fine, however nautilus segfaults when it trys to start... im not sure whats wrong as i had installed the updated dependancies that it asked for. i was wondering if anyone else who is running the development builds had the same issue and found a way to fix it? id give you guys a dump to look at, but alas im not quite sure how to generate one. on that note, i wonder if it has anything do to with this other issue: [root@localhost moparx]# up2date (up2date:3170): Gdk-WARNING **: DESKTOP_STARTUP_ID contains invalid UTF-8 ** (up2date:3170): WARNING **: `GtkTextSearchFlags' is not an enum type Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/sbin/up2date", line 1188, in ? sys.exit(main() or 0) File "/usr/sbin/up2date", line 842, in main from up2date_client import gui File "gui.py", line 20, in ? Moparx
still segfaults. this is what i got during the upgrade: [root@localhost rpms]# rpm -U nautilus-2.5.7-1.i386.rpm /sbin/ldconfig: File /usr/lib/libartscontrolsupport.so.1.0.0.#prelink#.Eskkvb is too small, not checked. /usr/share/omf/gnome-panel/window-list-es.omf:12: parser error : Input is not proper UTF-8, indicate encoding ! Moparx
reinstalling gnome got nautilus working again the next problem is that nautilus has losts its toolbars & the ability to show icons. im hoping there is an easy solution to this? i tried deleting the configuration files in both .nautilus & .gconf/apps/nautilus as well as changing the theme that was in use. it was originally using bluecurve which the default theme. here is a picture:
MrStaticVoid
It was a well know bug, but in the later releases of gnome-2.5 (btw I'm on gnome-current), that has been more than fixed. My version (its around 2.5.6) feels like its ready for release. Just try updating more, if the RPM's are available. If they aren't you could get the latest stuff from GARNOME or compile it yourself. Moparx
ah ok. im running 2.5.3 and there are currently no devel rpms higher than that on fedora's devel download section :( ill wait a bit & see if they add updated rpms within the next week or so, afterwords ill go ahead and compile it. thanks for your assistance
