Si Veteran Posted February 24, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 24, 2004 1) Why doesn't osx remember my airport extreme settings between sessions? It is annoying to have to enter the ssid and wep key every time :( 2) Why is osx ignoring my /etc/hosts ad block file? 3) Is it my eyes or do the pinstripe bits of osx look green on external screens
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted February 24, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 24, 2004 1) Set up a network location, like I do. Go to System Preferences > Network. Under the Location drop down, select New Location and create a new location. Then select that location, double click AirPort and make sure "By default, join:" is set to "A specific network". You can enter the SSID, and it should prompt you for the WEP key. Click apply now and you've set up the location. If you ever want to change, the Apple menu has a Location menu item that you can quickly change between setups. I have this set up so I can go from my home network to my school's network quickly and efficiently. 2) You may have the DNS info cached. I think you have to killall lookupd in the Terminal, but I forget. 3) It's your eyes... What screen are you using? Have you tried using colorsync?
