Si Veteran Posted February 25, 2004 Veteran Share Posted February 25, 2004 help me.... I just ran software update and itunes told me to update my ipod to software 2.1 so i thought ok what the hell. now my ipod is stuck on the apple logo unless i force it into disk mode with the prev/next buttons. In disk mode my ibook mounts the ipod but the ipod updater claims that 'the connected ipod does not have proper software' so I can't do a factory reset either!. Please help me I need my ipod back
Elliott
Hmm, try resetting it by flipping the Hold switch on and off and pressing Menu and Pause/Play simultaneously?
NeoMayhem
Run the firmware upgrading app again and try doing a restore, not an upgrade. You will have to copy all the music back onto the iPod, but that doesn't take that long.
Si Veteran Posted February 25, 2004 Author Veteran Share Posted February 25, 2004 (edited) nope...nothing should I try to format it in the disk utility? EDIT ok...lol I need to read things more carefully. On the updater screen that says the ipod doesn't have proper software I thought the buttons were 'grayed out' (damn windows legacy), and all I needed to do was click the padlock and enter my password. then it let me do a restore. lol. thanks guys  Edited February 25, 2004 by ultimaweapon
mihir
don't format, if u can't restore try running the updater in windows if available to u. try get into the diagnostics mode (http://www.ipodlounge.com/tips_more.php?id=115_0_11_0_C) and try the B.RESET function.
