Nike "What If' Commercial

Recommended Posts

Anyone see it? Basically it had several of the Nike athletes in different sports, asking the question "What if [so and so] played [different sport] instead of [sport they play now]?"

Athletes include:

Lance Armstrong Boxing

Serena Williams Playing Beach Volleyball

Michael Vick Playing Hockey for the Colorado Av's

Andre Agassi Playing Baseball for the Red Sox

Randy Johnson Bowling a Strike

Also seems like its a ripoff of the McDonald's commericals up here for the NHL trophy's, and Gretzky missing all but one, then he daydreams what if he was a goalie.

McDick's commercial has been out for a month or so

Years ago Stefan Edberg was featured in a similar commercial for Adidas, him doing things like being a lift man, electrician etc. It was really funny and the first of its kind. I think these ads are just a copy of those :)

Took me a while to realize that was Lance Armstrong boxing and Serena Williams playing volleyball.

I haven't really like any commericals from Nike since Michael Jordan's "What If" commercial.

"What if I was just a basketball player? Could you imagine it? I can."

Of course, the Mars Blackmon/Jordan commercials are the best sports-related ads ever :)

I actually liked the commercial, but I was a little dissapointed in the CG of it. There are a couple shots (Vick scoring the goal, Lance just before his 2 punch combo) that look extremely fake in a pre Star Wars way.

My favorite sports related commercials are the MJ-Bird Mc Donalds HORSE game, there was a Coca Cola commercial a while back with kids in a tree house, they ran out of coke and some grandmother yelled "Michael, the boys need more Coke" and he runs out there with a 6-pack and dunks it onto the ledge. Not sure why, but it's just a good commercial.

My opinion on a commercial, well, I don't really care to be honest they're all designed for one thing only - to sell a product. And I'll never buy a Nike product because of their aweful practices in poorer contries in regard to cheap labour.

I liked the Randy Johnson mullet, personally.

Randy has been rocking the mullet all his professional life. Maybe he is hoping they will make a comeback so he can once again pretend he is cool.
