MulletRobZ
For some strange reason, after I add extra TrueType fonts to ?fonts:/?, my printer (Epson Stylus C62) would no longer function. Usually, I time 8 to 10 seconds for the printer to start printing and at the same time, I was checking the printer system tray (eggcups) and it disappeared before the printer would usually start. Before that, the printer was fine and I?m sure that removing the fonts would not solve the problem. Are there others having the same problem with any other printer available? And if so, is there a way in which the problem could be fixed? I would like to as soon as possible because I have some stuff to print off (yes I know it?s a test release, for crying out loud) and I refuse to go back to Windows! Thanks in advance
kongit
maybe you should try to reinstall the printers driver.
MulletRobZ
Do you mean to re-install CUPS itself? Because I tried deleting the printer and re-adding it and that wouldn?t work.
kongit
The printer driver itself. I am not sure beyond that as I have never been able to get my printer working. it is dell's fault though because they never made a driver for it that will work with linux. LordHatrus
hmmm is it a local printer or a <networked printer or a shared printer>
MulletRobZ
LordHatrus, it?s locally connected. And kongit, all of the printer drivers should be included with CUPS. You should be able to select the printer with CUPS setup (Mandrake Control Centre, Red Hat Printer Configuration, KPrinter, etc.) and when I was using Slackware 9.0, the printer was fine. In Slackware 9.1, it wouldn?t work for any non-KDE applications. Their printer database updates very rapidly. Depending on what distro you are using, I might be able to tell you whether or not CUPS is included.
