the evn show
:o $30,000? No way, you could buy a nice ride with that! If you've got $30,000 to spend on music in 6 months, you've probably got the car situation well covered. You know, $30,000 isn't really an insane amount overall. I've got about 500 CDs bought for on average $20. $20 * 500 = $10,000, and I'm hardly a major music collector. Granted I've been buying since the mid-80s but if that's all he's got then it's not an ungodly amount to spend. Chances are good it's a guy with boatloads of cash and a G5+iPod, but it's possible it's just a crotchety old man like my grandfather who decided to skip these "new fangled CDs" because audio-cassette was good enough, but now he's ready to upgrade. +Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted March 2, 2004 Subscriber² Share Posted March 2, 2004 Wow, some people really think they have all the answers here, dont they. If a guy has the money to spend on that much music, and wants to, who the hell are we to criticise it? I'm not gonna hate it, I say "all power to them!". And spoiled? Who says? I am rich - does it follow that I am spoiled? No, cos I earn my own way.

orestes
 I don't know. For some reason i smell bull**** here. Can anyone honestly come up with 30,000 songs that they like and/or feel are good enough to buy? I know I can't. My bets on the fact that this person is downing them for 99cents and burning them to CD and then selling the CD's with a nice markup.

mick0142
whoever made he comment about paying for music from bands they like needs to a) do some research on how money from cd's is divided up, and b) go to some cocerts if they really want to support the band
Chicane-UK Veteran Posted March 5, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 5, 2004 Doesn't iTMS keep a log of everything you have bought? So that if your HDD pops or something like that, you can re-download all the stuff you already paid for?

kairon
Doesn't iTMS keep a log of everything you have bought? So that if your HDD pops or something like that, you can re-download all the stuff you already paid for? No. I spent well over $100 on iTMS then I was in a hurry to reformat and forgot to back up and well....those ###### never responded to my request to let me download again either. It goes without saying that I stick to buying CD's now and wouldn't use iTunes again.
