stilist
Can't we all just be happy with our current OS and shut up? If it does what you want, good. Don't try pushing it on other people. Don't get defensive if they try to push it on you. Just mind your own business; suggest your favorite if somebody is honestly asking. Personally, I'm happy with either Linux or Windows. Each has advantages over the other, from what I've seen. Yeah, it's a bit of a pain to switch back and forth, but I don't mind because I think they're useful enough to merit it. Don't direct your flames at me, I don't intend to fall to either camp. :)
jkrupa128
My opinion:Linux is considered much more secure than windows because the way it is designed and most virus writers/hackers try to concentrate on windows instead because it it more widley used. Linux it also is more versitle (servers, desktops, bootcds) as there are so many distros and is open souce so is more favourable for some devolpers. And it's (mostly) free of course which is why it is so easy to try out. Which os versions are free? I'd like to try it...
kongit
most are FREE meaning you can download and install it for free. but supporting the distro helps signicantly. you can alse modify the source provided as long as you stay within its license, usualy gnu-gpl. debian and gentoo are two that I can think of off the top of my head that are nearly completely free. Southern Patriot
Which os versions are free? I'd like to try it... For a good place to start, try The Linux ISO page. From there, you can find links to the CD images of most of the free-to-download distros.
