I never had any real luck using Slackware 9.1. But I can recall a certain crash I noticed with the KDE included by default (3.1.4) and it's that I couldn't modify the clock. I also couldn't print using non-KDE applications, but I haven't tried KDE 3.2, unfortunately. If I were you, I'd go back to Slackware 9.0 for it is a lot more stable and at least you shouldn't experience any crashes. Upgrading to KDE 3.2 in Slack 9.0 will cause the graphics in GNOME to disappear. Also, certain graphics are missing from the Slackware packages for KDE 3.2 such as some of the window decorations (including Plastik), the menu layout, and the splash. Other than that, upgrading to KDE 3.2 in Slackware 9.0 should not be that much of a hassle.

Try changing your video driver with xfree86config (or whatever).

I hear there are issues with nVidia drivers.

I'm using the default Radeon driver and I don't have problems.

Problems with NVidia Drivers and KDE? That's impossible! After all this time I used Linux, the NVidia drivers did not give me a problem unless if it's trying to use NVidia drivers other than version 1.0-3123 in Mandrake 9.0. Besides, I would not install the NVidia drivers until after I upgraded XFree86.

Yes, nvidia drivers affecting the stability of xfree86 thus affecting the stability of KDE.

I don't have a nvidia card in my test box so I can't verify. He should try a search in this forum. I remember reading about it somewhere.

I figured my problem it was I had overclocked my cpu and it was making everything unstable

There ya go! Have you tried disabling the overclock for a while and see how it works?
