[NFL] Keyshawn Trade

Recommended Posts

Keyshawn Johnson is still heading to the Cowboys, but it will likely be for a draft choice, not Joey Galloway.

Once Johnson agreed to a five-year, $20 million deal with the Cowboys, Dallas was ready to send Galloway to the Bucs in return.

However, for Galloway to fit into the trade, he would have had to take a salary cut. Galloway is scheduled to make $6.31 million this season, and the Bucs only offered him a $1 million base and a $250,000 bonus. Galloway has balked at taking the paycut.

Instead, Johnson likely will go to Dallas for a second-day 2005 draft choice, perhaps a fifth or sixth-rounder, ESPN.com's John Clayton and ESPN's Ed Werder reports.

that seems really whack imo.

Dallas is looking good, their D is only going to be better this year and if their offense can score points it will be hard for opponents to stop em.

If the trade can't be worked out, the Cowboys also could wait until the Bucs release Johnson before April 1, when Johnson is due a $1 million bonus.

That is awesome. Looks like the Bucs have absolutely ZERO leverage on this deal. Cowboys could offer a 7th rounder for him, and if the Bucs don't take him, the Cowboys get him anyways in 30 days. Nice work on getting the contract done so soon by the Boys.

well, i dont blame galloway, i wouldnt wanna take a $5m paycut either. this actually works out better for dallas

How's that? They don't want Galloway and they may want to get a QB with their draft picks.

Cause Dallas won't spend a second day draft pick on a QB. Too low.

I'm still hopin they get Henson.

If a decent quarterback falls into that spot, then yes, they will... There's been massive speculation about it here in Dallas.

Henson? I wouldn't want him.

a second-day 2005 draft choice,

Key word, 2005! Does nothing to impact this April's draft.....As a Cowboys fan, I'm not convinced this is a good trade, but if anybody can get KJ thinking right, Parcells is the guy! As to quarterbacks, if a decent QB is available when Dallas has a pick, I say grab him.

A fifth or sixth round QB? No...Carter is better than that. That would be a wasted pick.

knightryderrwn: Yes, I know, 2005. And if Parcells wants to try this year with Carter again he may be looking for a decent to good QB in 2005.

BOOGSoftball: Sorry, I was talking about a second-round QB, not a fifth or sixth. My fault.
