kongit
Too bad they don't support the radeon 7500 anymore  ah well you don't even need them of you have a 2.6.x kernel. It includes proper radeon support. mine works perfectly using the builtin driver.

trpn
These drivers are not new. 3.7.1 was released at the beginning of march. They didn't work for people who do not have sse2 enabled computers (ie athlons). They were pulled from the website but I think ATI forgot to change the date back to jan 2, when 3.7.0 was actually released. The 3.2.8 drivers actually supported xfree86 4.3 and they were realeased in late 2003. So if you read this news on slashdot, it is wrong! 7500 and below are supported by the dri project which makes opensource drivers. Opengl should work but games like ut2003, 2004 etc probobly won't since dri does not have some features needed to play these games. ATI decided not to release proprietary drivers for anything below the 8500 (which sucks becasue I used to have a 7500) The changes from 3.7.0 to 3.7.1 stated "added support for 9800xt" but that was it... Since they are proprietary drivers no one really knows what has changed, and seems as though ATI is getting a lot of flak because of this, and also releasing crap that doesnt work. read the forums at www.rage3d.com in the linux section to see whats really going on. hope that helped
