Sleeper Veteran Posted March 8, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 8, 2004 Taking into account I have very very minimal Linux Experiance how easy is it to setup and configure a Redhat webserver so that I can run Invsion? Most of my experience has been with IIS on windows. So any help would be greatly appreciated... ie links to articles etc etc. Also is Redhat the best choice? kemical
with redhat it comes with gui programs to get apache up and running which is your webserver.. as far as running invision which is php you'll need to have mysql which is included in redhat and php which is also included.. so basically yea its easy to setup.. just follow the manual over at apache and mod_php to help you with configuring the way you want

kemical
anyone got a good mirror for Redhat9? the one on the Redhat site is dead :( check out the fedora project, basically same thing just with all updated packages http://fedora.redhat.com
BxBoy
yea, forget about RH9.. they will stop support some time in May.. your best bet is to migrate to Fedora.. unless you want to switch to Red Hat Enterprise Edition.
kemical
also you can pretty much use any distro you want and use something like webmin to configure your servers to your liking, works pretty well i use it for some stuff on my slack server ;)
