MxxCon
can we please have the ability to see if mod/admin looked at a thread which have been "reported"? as i can see right now, it's impossible to know if nobody looked at it yet or mods/admin ignored/dismissed a report
John Veteran Posted March 9, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 9, 2004 And what are you going to do if they haven't looked at it yet? Report it again?
MxxCon
if nobody looked at it then no.. if it was ignored then yes if it was "rejected" maybe the ability to see why
BananaMan
It would be nice to see a more intuitive reporting system implemented. However, I don't think is something that comes with IPB that they can just switch on, it would probably have to be coded by hand, which the mods may not have time for (and who would blame them?) john smith 1924 Veteran Posted March 9, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 9, 2004 Simple answer : no! We dont intend (as redmak has said in many, many threads now) to implement any new patches / new features to the boards until ivb 2.0 pops out. Ask again then. Joel
Either way, it's an email that notifies us. And it notifies all who are assigned to that forum. I don't know what would satisfy the options you wish to have on a reported post, based on how we receive the notification at the present time. Rell
Well, if you PM an online mod, that is one way of seeing if they read the PM ... because you can set it to track the PM...
MxxCon
there is a difference between [REPORT THIS MESSAGE] and Private Message
BananaMan
there is a difference between [REPORT THIS MESSAGE] and Private Message I think he knows that, he's just giving you an alternative to reporting which might suit your wants more. I agree with him.
Hawkeye
It would be nice if this was implemented, but I simply can't imagine how it would be done. When you report a post, MxxCon, I'm sure you know that it is sent as an email to the Mods of that forum, and I believe to all Global Mods. silly_walk mentioned this as well. The way it works now, this is actually a limitation of IPB, not a limitation on Neowin, so unfortunately it looks like there is no way to do what you want at the present time. Matt can probably code it so that the "Report This Post" feature can be optionally sent as an email, PM, or both, and then the person making the report would receive a notification of it. In fact, even when sent as an email, a little hash can be generated similar to the one that is generated when a user needs to verify their accout signup, so when the Mod/SuperMod/Admin clicks on the link to see the reported post, a PM or email is autosent to the person who filed the report. In the end, you'd still have to request this at IPS's forums (and see if Matt will add it into IPB 2.0), and not actually here on Neowin, as this is not something that is exclusive to Neowin. I believe this has been requested on numerous occasions though, but I have not followed this closely enough to find out what Matt had to say about it.
