zivan56
For all of you who need a native Linux Centrino driver, Intel has started a Sourceforge project today to get it working. It seems promising, as it is actually being developed by Intel. Site: http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/ Good thing they did'nt use NDISloader as an excuse not the make one. markwolfe Veteran Posted March 10, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 10, 2004 Although I am not a Centrino person, I think that this is great news for Lunixphiles unfortunate enough to have a Centrino notebook.
zivan56
Centrino notebooks work great on Linux, I have an Acer Aspire 2001lci and the 1mb of l2 cache is more than enough to compensate for the low Mhz. Kernel compile times are actually faster on my Centrino 1.4Ghz compared to my P4 2Ghz. So the only unfortunate thing would be the wireless support :)
revvo
This is awesome. I'm interested of getting a laptop later (not too late though) and most probably will be a centrino due to the 1mb of cache of goodness! I like this. Seeing companies support linux and provide their programs and/or drivers to the most users possible.
zivan56
Yes, its nice to see. However, Intel did promise these drivers last year  Oh well, better late then never. These drivers are pretty important, as they will work on any Centrino branded laptop (they must have the same wlan chip in order to use the brand)
