neowin problem

Recommended Posts

I've only been a member about a month and a half, but every day during that time there are several times a day the site is simply inaccessible. Sometimes I get the SQL error, but more often than not I simply can't get in. And it happens at various hours of the day. Can't just be when the site is very busy either, because often when I do get back in there have been very few new posts.

For example, as I submitted the above post the site locked up for me and this is the first chance I could get back to see if my comments actually posted.

I just noticed that a lot of the slowdown happens when the database is being accessed (like when checking posts or stuff) but when you just click on a link unrelated to the database (like clicking on the Search link) it isnt slow at all.

The error is "CANNOT FIND DATABASE NEOWIN_IBF" then you refresh and it works!

Its like the database just disappears..

Your IP address is in there... :ninja:

Same here. I don't run a firewall at all. Hell, I don't even have A/V installed on my PC (or Mac, not that it matters :p ). :D

Its getting somewhat ridiculous. I hate to complain as well, but the major downtime is really hurting Neowin.. a lot of members are leaving because of it. If I was a fairly new member, I would probably switch over to another forum as well.

You're right, but not many forums compare to Neowin's.

Neowin rocks. I am more than happy to deal with the downtime, because this site is great. I don't mind a little inconvience, because I come here ALOT, and it's a great resource.

I have been having a problem with neowin also. The main page and comments will load, but anything forum related will not load or open or anything.

Is it from the backups?

it's been smooth sailing for neowin a few days after i created this thread.
