Fred Derf Veteran Posted March 11, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 11, 2004 I want to use Samba as a print (and file) server for Windows clients. Do I need to have a Linux-compatible printer driver for my printer model to make this work? It currently uses a parallel cable which should simplify things a bit (it will also use USB if that helps). The printer is a HP Color Inkjet cp1700 printer. Specs: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechS...rodTypeId=18972 I don't see any linux drivers here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechS...#9001;=en&cc=us I need support for printing on tabloid paper (11x17"). It is HP PCL 3 (Enhanced) compatible. I don't have the model with the duplex unit or Postscript. The clients will be using AutoCAD for Windows or something similar. I assume this should be do-able. Any help would be appreciated.
LordHatrus
The appropriate driver for that model of printer should be included for that particular printer in your distro.
